Rieti, November 11, 2025 – On the occasion of the presentation of the INPS Social Report – Province of Rieti 2024, held at the Fondazione Varrone, Professor Ruggieri, President of the inter-university program Sapienza–Tuscia in Innovation Economics in Rieti, took the floor.
Professor Ruggieri focused his speech on demographic change, describing it as one of the main challenges for the country, especially in inland areas. He emphasized the importance of promoting legality, efficiency, and institutional cohesion, recognizing INPS as playing a key role in fostering trust in the economic system.
From an academic perspective, Professor Ruggieri highlighted the collaboration between Tuscia and Sapienza as a virtuous model of educational and territorial synergy, and recalled the strong interaction between universities and the productive sector. He stressed the strategic role of the Research Center on Circular Economy and Health and its laboratories as essential tools to support applied research projects, technological innovation, and local development, representing a true added value for the Rieti area.
Professor Ruggieri also underlined the role of universities in PNC and PNRR projects, particularly regarding sustainability and circular economy, and the need to retain and attract talent by creating an open and multicultural university environment.
Finally, he reaffirmed the importance of enhancing local culture and economy, improving logistics and services, and engaging the community, emphasizing that the university’s presence in Rieti represents a strategic investment for the development of the territory, supported by education, research, and the laboratories of the Research Center.
